Mindfulness
is the very life force of the spiritual path. In this day
course we will learn how we can transform all our daily
experiences from being mundane causes of stress and struggle
into causes of increasing inspiration, peace, and authentic
happiness. Watching your mind and learning which states
of mind cause pain and problems and which states cause peace
and happiness is the foundation of most Buddhist traditions,
and it's something everyone can do, no matter how busy their
lives may be. This is what Buddha intended for the practice
of mindfulness. In this way, every moment can be a cause
of great meaning. Instead of returning home from our day
exhausted and our mind very agitated, we will arrive more
energized and peaceful. Eventually we can learn to establish
not only a sitting meditation practice, but a mutually supporting
"meditation" practice that we can bring with us
day and night, whether we're eating, conversing, shopping,
or watching the television. Training the mind in mindfulness
is a most important practice for those wishing to progress
along the Buddhist Way of Life. |
