free meditation workshop. On subsequent Saturdays,

Meet Your Resident Teacher - Q&A with Gen Kelsang Mondrub, 1pm - 2pm - Whether you have attended Rameshori Center before or you are completely new, you will enjoy this chance to ask our Resident Teacher, American Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Mondrub, that question you've always wanted to hear an answer to, but never seemed the right time to ask. For an hour, enjoy asking Gen Mondrub questions about Buddhism, Buddhist meditation, or how to apply Buddha's teachings to daily life.
Understanding Buddhist Prayer & Practice Series - Creating a Pure World: How to Make Traditional Mandala Offerings, 2:30pm - 3pm - This year, we're introducing a series of short courses to help you learn more about the Kadampa Buddhist faith and its many rich traditions. In the first class in this series, veteran lay teacher Bob Buchman will teach you about the practice of making rice mandala offerings. By the end of the half hour, you will have a basic understanding of what a mandala offering is, why we make mandala offerings, and how to make them yourself with a rice mandala kit. Complete beginners and returning students will both enjoy this short explanation.
Sunday's Events
Free Sunday Services - "How to Use Transform Your Life for Meditation", 11am - 12:15pm - Our weekly Sunday Services class is an ideal introduction to Buddha's basic teachings and how to apply them to daily life. Each class includes time at the beginning for meditation, followed by brief prayers, a teaching from the book Transform Your Life, and time for discussion. During our Open House, Gen Mondrub will teach students how to use Transform Your Life as a tool for daily meditation practice.
While Sunday Services happens in the main meditation room with Gen Mondrub, children are invited to have fun at the Family Time class next door with Kelsang Nyema. Just like the adults, the children are also learning more about Buddhist solutions for daily life, with teachings and activities based loosely on the book Introduction to Buddhism. The Family Time class is geared for children between 5 and 10, and of course parents are also welcome. (If your child is a toddler or younger, we request that at least one adult remain with the child during class.)
A Day in the
Life of a Buddhist Monk - A Panel Discussion with Gen
Mondrub, 12:15pm - 1:15pm - Have you ever wondered
why an American, from a non-Buddhist family, would eventually
decide to ordain as a Buddhist monk? Have you wanted to
know what monks do in their spare time or what they do
for fun? Have you wanted to ask - but have maybe been
too shy to - what it's like to wear robes every day, or
have a shaved head? You can pose all these questions to
Gen Kelsang Mondrub who has been an ordained Buddhist
monk for over nine years during this one-hour panel discussion.
Understanding
Buddhist Prayer & Practice Series - What's in
a Shrine? followed by an introduction to Foundation Program,
1:30pm - 2:30pm - Angie Terrell will offer a
"tour" of our Center's meditation room shrine,
explaining what the different statues and images symbolize.
After students have had a chance to ask any questions
about the shrine and its meaning, she will introduce our
Foundation Program class
to anyone who has been curious to know more about it,
or thinking about joining. Try
